Overview

With over 40 years of experience at the intersection of corporate law, real estate, and M&A, Steve counsels a diverse range of clients — from privately held and family-owned businesses to private equity funds, real estate developers, and institutional investors — through some of the most consequential transactions of their professional lives.

His practice spans the full spectrum of deal complexity and scale, from straightforward acquisitions to sophisticated public finance structures, public/private partnerships, and large-scale development transactions. Whether a matter involves a sub-$10 million asset purchase or a multi-hundred-million-dollar financing, he brings the same commitment: technically precise, business-minded counsel that is practical, accessible, and attuned to each client’s specific goals.

What distinguishes Steve’s perspective is that he has never practiced law from the sidelines of the business world. Throughout his legal career, he has owned and operated a textile screen printing facility, a contract sewing business, and a real estate title insurance agency, and was a founding partner in the group that developed, operated, and sold an 18-hole, Golf Digest–ranked golf course. These ventures — run concurrently with a full-time legal practice — gave him a firsthand understanding of what it means to sign on the dotted line, manage risk, meet payroll, and make decisions under pressure. When he advises a business owner or investor, he draws on that experience as much as he draws on the law.

Steve practices within a boutique firm environment by design. It allows him to offer the depth and sophistication of a large practice alongside the responsiveness and personal attention that complex transactions demand. His clients know they can reach him, that he understands their business, and that his counsel is grounded in their long-term interests — not just the deal in front of them.

Beyond his practice, Steve has presented at bar association continuing legal education programs and served as a practitioner adviser in a law school business and financial literacy initiative — a reflection of his commitment to practical legal education and the broader professional community.
